How we build cities and how cities shapes the lives of citizens continues to feed our imagination and to inspire action. Recent years have seen health researchers and practitioners join the chorus of those advocating for more livable, age-friendly and health-promoting cities. In this talk, I present some evidence linking the built environment to health consequences, and consider policy actions informed by this evidence. I will showcase examples of built environment research and policy actions in the city of Saskatoon, and share insights learned from this work.
